Sometimes, even picture-perfectΒ romanceΒ can hide a devastating betrayal. This story is about how one woman navigated the tumultuous waters of heartbreak, deception, and unexpected pregnancy.
She explained what happened.
Iβm completely lost and heartbroken. My fiancΓ© just dropped a bombshell: he admitted to cheating on me for over a year. Weβve been together for seven yearsβsince we were high school sweetheartsβand now he says he doesnβt want to be together anymore. To make it worse, he brought his girlfriend with him when he told me, refusing to even have the decency to say it to me privately. She walked into our home, the one we built together, and it felt like a knife to the chest. I donβt even know where to begin processing all of this.

I had this whole plan to share the news on his birthdayβI was pregnant. Heβd always talked about wanting a big family, dreaming of at least five kids. While I wasnβt as passionate about having children, I was open to the idea. But the second he said, βWeβre done,β everything shifted.
In that moment, I knew I didnβt want the baby. The thought of co-parenting or becoming a single mom didnβt sit right with me. Sure, I have a good-paying job, and some might call it selfish, but I donβt care. My decision was clear.
When I told him I was pregnant, right after he ended things, he lookedβ¦ shaken. Almost like he regretted his choice. He mentioned being okay with split custody, but I stayed silent. This wasnβt the life I wanted, and I wasnβt going to let his decisions define mine.

A few days later, I made the decision to have an abortion. I felt it was only fair to tell him, not to lead him on, especially since I had no intention of ever seeing or speaking to him again. When I sent the text, he immediately called, demanding, βWhy would you do that??β He argued that heβd always wanted kids and that I shouldβve consulted him before making such a choice.
Iβll admit, I feel selfish for what I did. But the idea of giving birth and raising a child with someone who shattered my heart? It felt like a recipe for unhappiness. Iβve never been big on kids, and the thought of having one with him only made it worse. Now, Iβm left feeling like a jerk. Heβs the only one who knows about the abortionβnot the pregnancyβand the weight of it all is heavy.
People comforted her.

- “Absolutely nothing wrong with choosing yourself.” xasdfxx / Reddit
- “The audacity of this man, Iβm shocked. If you want a kid have one with your new GF then? Like, what? Why should your previous GF who you CHEATED on carry your child for you? Excuse me? If you want a surrogate then be prepared to pay. Wow.” treesofthemind / Reddit

- “He had no say. He cheated on you and left you! And didnβt even have the decency to do it one on one. You did what was best for you. If he wants a family he can get his girlfriend pregnant. Good riddance!” iknowsomethings2 / Reddit
- “It sounds like having a child would have cost her happiness. Also, this is a situation that would change your life forever… being a single mom, having to work the custody arrangements out, and having a selfish and unreasonable baby father… can have huge impacts on your life. If you aren’t sure you want kids, it is better to not put yourself in this situation.” poughlerbear / Reddit
- “Surrogacy is expensive for a reason since no one would put themselves through pregnancy. Like, heβs not the one whoβll pee every time they sneeze.” EmeraldEmber- / Reddit

- “I admire people like you. Often people get emotional and keep the pregnancy facing the co-parenting issue with an ex-spouse forever. You don’t deserve this. Hope you grow strong and wish you the best of luck.” Hot_Broccoli3501 / Reddit
- “Pregnancy and birth is not a walk in the park, especially in your circumstances. Please don’t let him make you feel guilty. If he hadn’t cheated on you, you would still be together and starting a family together. He is the one who messed this whole thing up.” CrabbiestAsp / Reddit
Through the pain of betrayal and the complexities of an unexpected pregnancy, she discovered a source of strength she never knew she had. Now, it’s better to surround yourself with supportive friends and family, seek therapy, and focus on rebuilding your sense of self.
